Nine 4-H’ers  will  represent Idaho at the National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C. March 24-29, 2007. One adult volunteer will be selected to attend as chaperone.  The  Conference will involve more than 300 delegates in strategic planning for the future of 4-H. Delegates to the conference will meet in consulting groups to discuss plans for 4-H and the Cooperative Extension System as well as with officials from USDA and the National 4-H Council. Their recommendations will go to all the states, national leaders and others involved in determining programs. In addition, the Idaho 4-H’ers will meet with the state’s senators and representatives at the Capitol.

Participants will take a break from the Conference tasks to tour several historic sites including the Capitol, the National Mall and various national monuments. Special activities will include a talent show, and the Banquet and Clover Ball which is held on the final night of the conference.

Delegates must be 15-18 years old on January 1st of the year they attend.  Delegates are selected for their achievements through 4-H, especially in leadership. Delegates share conference information with their schools and various 4-H gatherings upon their return.
