Nine 4-Hers will represent Idaho at the
National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C.
March 24-29, 2007. One adult volunteer will be selected to attend as
chaperone. The Conference will involve more than 300
delegates in strategic planning for the future of 4-H. Delegates to the conference will
meet in consulting groups to discuss plans for 4-H and the Cooperative Extension System as
well as with officials from USDA and the National 4-H Council. Their recommendations will
go to all the states, national leaders and others involved in determining programs. In
addition, the Idaho 4-Hers will meet with the states senators and
representatives at the Capitol.
Participants will take a break from the Conference tasks to tour several historic sites
including the Capitol, the National Mall and various national monuments. Special
activities will include a talent show, and the Banquet and Clover Ball which is held on
the final night of the conference.
Delegates must be 15-18 years old on January
1st of the year they attend. Delegates are selected for their achievements through 4-H, especially in leadership.
Delegates share conference information with their schools and various 4-H gatherings upon
their return.
